MUSIC - Ukelele lesson

Today was the final ukulele lesson as part of the Wider Opportunities program on the Island - allowing children the chance to learn an instrument. Over the course of this term Year 4 have been taught by Mr Ledicott and have learnt a range of notes and techniques in regards to learning the ukulele. The final piece they have learnt is ‘Drunken Sailor’.  I have been very impressed with how they’ve listened and tried with the instrument. And thank you for your enthusiasm and patience Mr Ledicott!

COMPUTING - Code for Life

Image
Today was our last Computing lesson of the year for Year 4. We were introduced to a new game on the Chromebooks called Code for Life. This game requires you to use code to navigate a delivery van around a course, making deliveries as you go. We had to use a variety of our coding skills to solve the problems, including sequencing and repetition; as well as testing our logical thinking and debugging knowledge.

Art: Wednesday 13th July 2022: to print a version of Starry Night

Year 4 used  two different items to create a Van Gogh inspired Starry Night. Using a series of straight lines and some circles they printed their painting. Some fabulous work. Well done year 4 .

French: mercredi 13 juillet 2022: to write a weather diary

Year 4 revised all the work done on this topic. They sang their song, mimed different types of weather and practised different clothing vocabulary by playing a game. They revised the days of the week and then using a help mate and sentence structures to write down the weather in a different part of France.

Computing/DT - MicroBit Challenge

Year 4 had a great day today designing and building a device for the MicroBit challenge. They were briefed in the morning that they had to build a device, incorporating a MicroBit, that helped the UN to meet one of their global goals. The children worked fantastically in their groups and were able to design, build and code some amazing creations. We then had a showcase at the end of the day where the children could showcase their designs.
